Advertise claims third Group 1 with Deauville triumph

ADVERTISE battled bravely to run down a field of classy sprinters to claim the Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville on Sunday, August 4.
The win was a third success at the top level for the son of Showcasing, with those Group 1 wins each coming in a different country, as he added to his wins in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes in Ireland and Group 1 Commonwealth Cup earlier this year at Royal Ascot.
Frankie Dettori, who claimed an incredible 12th Group 1 win for the 2019 season with this success, tracked Group 1 Prix Morny winner Pretty Pollyanna through the early stages of the race, and hit the front with a furlong and a half remaining in the 400,000EUR contest, with Advertise digging in to see off the attentoins of the fast-finishing Brando who crossed the line in second.
A £60,000 purchase from the Goffs Doncaster Premier Sale in 2017, Advertise has now earned an incredible £904,358, as he closes on the £1 million mark in prize-money.
Martyn Meade was thrilled with the horse's effort, as he looks to proclaim himself as a leading stallion in his post-race career.
"He's done everything he needs to do," said Meade. "You have to always finish on a high so I'm going to be pretty positive where I put him next time. I'm not goin gto throw him in just for the chance, we're not just in it for the prize-money but to actually make a really nice stallion and I think he's proving that's what he really is."
In considering his next options, Meade reflected on the calibre of the horse and his impact since taking up the training ranks at Manton Park in 2018.
"He might run once or twice more, maybe we could come back to France on Arc day for the Foret. I think he has to be up there with the best I've trained so far. We've only been at this for a relatively short period of time and we've been really lucky we've had two or three really nice horses. Long may it continue!"
